Whistleblowing and wellbeing panel discussion
This panel discusses the impact of misconduct at work on personal wellbeing. Drawing on research from a major new study across Australia and New Zealand and practice, our panellists will explore the experiences of people who both report on, and respond to, incidents of misconduct, and offer suggestions as to how wellbeing can be enhanced for all involved.

Margo Lydon
Margo has more than 19 years’ experience in mental health and suicide prevention. She also has an extensive background in leadership, business management and marketing. She has been instrumental in driving the strategic growth of SuperFriend. Margo’s energy and dedication to her role is underpinned by her strong belief that SuperFriend’s unique and innovative business model provides unprecedented opportunities to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the millions of Australians who belong to ‘profit to member’ superannuation funds.
Margo holds a Master of Science, Positive Organization Development and Change from Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Ohio. Margo also holds a Bachelor of Business Degree (Marketing) from University of Queensland. Margo represents SuperFriend on a number of nationally recognised strategic alliances including; the Mentally Healthy Workplace Alliance, Victorian Workplace Mental Wellbeing Collaboration, Leading Well Queensland Collaboration, Positive Psychology Institute of Australia Advisory Panel, Shared Value Project and Roses in the Ocean’s Sector Advisory.
Margo is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Beta Gamma Sigma. Margo was a finalist in the 2019 Telstra Business Women’s Awards (Victoria) in the “For Purpose and Social Enterprise” category.

Michael Macaulay
Michael Macaulay is Professor of Public Administration at the School of Government, Victoria University of Wellington (NZ). He was previously Professor of Public Management at Teesside University (UK), and has held visiting professor posts in the UK and South Africa. Michael has worked with numerous international government agencies and NGOs including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) the Council of Europe and Transparency International. Within New Zealand, he has co-authored evaluations on NZ Police and the State Services Commission and has advised SSC, SFO, and numerous other agencies on anti-corruption, workplace misconduct and whistleblowing. Michael is also a former judge, having spent 7 years on the Teesside Bench in the UK.

Eva Tsahuridu
Eva is a business ethics and professional standards expert who has been researching and teaching business and professional ethics for over two decades. She is an Associate Professor and Industry Fellow at the School of Accounting, RMIT University. She is the section editor of Practice in Business Ethics of the Journal of Business Ethics, the editor of the Philosophy in Practice section of the Springer Handbook of Philosophy of Management and the convener of the Accounting Ethics Special Interest Group of the Australasian Business Ethics Network (ABEN). Most recently she was the Manager of Accounting Policy and Professional Standards & Governance Policy Adviser at CPA Australia; served as a technical adviser to the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants and represented CPA Australia at the ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) Corporate Governance Council. Her research interests include personal and organisational ethical conduct, whistleblowing, ethical and professional standards, philosophy of management and anomie.

Warren Day
As well as being Regional Commissioner for Victoria Warren is Executive Director for ASIC’s Assessment & Intelligence group, which includes ASIC’s Misconduct & Breach Reporting, Licensing and Small Business Compliance & Deterrence teams. Warren formed and leads ASIC’s Office of the Whistleblower (since February 2014) and ASIC’s Office of Small Business (since February 2017).
Warren joined ASIC in 2003 as a Senior Lawyer in Enforcement and from 2007, was the Specialist Director, Investor and Consumer Protection. Warren has led investigations about consumer protection, credit and unlicensed conduct and illegal schemes.
He was appointed Regional Commissioner for Victoria in October 2008 and in addition became the SEL of Assessment & Intelligence (and its predecessor group) in 2009. Before joining ASIC, Mr Day worked as a solicitor at Clayton Utz and as an auditor and analyst at the Australian Taxation Office.
He holds undergraduate and Masters qualifications in the disciplines of Accounting and Law and a Masters degree in Business Information Technology.
